1. Ordinary Members: Editors and editorial executives of print publications, broadcast and digital platforms with full responsibility for the editorial content and legal accountability for publications.
- Heads of freelance organizations or foreign press bureaus responsible for editorial content.

2. Associate members are:  Former Editors, Researchers on journalism/media, individuals from CSOs,Media Development Organisations dealing with Media and Press Freedoms and lecturers in university or colleges, departments responsible for journalism/media training (recognized by Uganda’s National Council for Higher Education/Ministry).
Full members of the Uganda Editors’ Guild or suitably qualified candidates at the discretion of the Executive Council who have retired from full-time control of the editorial function or responsibility for journalism training.

3.⁠ ⁠Honorary Members:  Members offered honorary membership by the Executive Council for their substantial contribution to the activities of the Guild, its objectives, or the media industry in general.
